CONTACTING US To reach us for any reason or to report your child is sick or unable to attend camp, please send a note by email to [email protected]. Please DO NOT send your child to camp if they are sick or not feeling well. For any urgent matters (where time is of the essence), please call the RA's main number at 613-733-5100 (ext. 360) and speak with RA Member Services. RA Summer Camps Phone – 613-913-7215 Office – West Wing - Off the left hand side of the West Lobby, across from the vending machines. Unexpectedly running late for morning drop-off or picking-up early? Should you arrive at the RA for drop off after 9am or for pick up before 4pm, please stop by the Camp office in the West Wing, off the left hand side of the West Lobby, across from the vending machines. Unexpectedly running late for afternoon pick-up? If you are running late to Afternoon Pick-up due to traffic or other unforeseen circumstances any children still in our care after 4:30pm will be brought to the extended care pick-up location (West Gym). Did you sign up for extended care (early or late)? Your drop-off and/or pick-up location is the West Gym Walk towards the RA's main entrance which is tucked behind the temporary white structure (West Gym) in front of the building. The entrance to the Gym faces the RA Centre and is accessed through the covered walkway (do not use the back doors as these are emergency exits only). If not, drop-off and pick-up locations are listed below by camp.
Drop-off and pick-up times are extremely busy. For everyone’s safety, please PARK in a parking spot in a parking lot. Please DO NOT stop or park anywhere along the laneway in front of the RA's East entrance. It is prohibited to stop or park in the laneway because it is a fire lane and poses a significant risk to your safety and the safety of others. As it can be unsafe to make a left hand turn from the West Entrance of the RA Centre, we encourage using the safer route at our East entrance (off Data Centre Road), where there is a left hand turn light. |

OTHER CAMP INFORMATION
AIR QUALITY – Your child’s health and safety are a priority, and we understand children are among the more vulnerable demographic affected by poor air quality. The RA will closely monitor the Ontario Government Air Quality Health Index and is committed to reducing strenuous outdoor activities, reduce prolonged exposure or remain indoors if air quality levels deteriorate to moderate and high-risk levels.
IF YOUR CHILD IS UNABLE TO ATTEND CAMP - Please notify the camp staff any day that your child will not be attending camp. A message can be left on the camp phone line at 613-913-7215 or a note can be sent to us by email to [email protected]. Please DO NOT send your child to camp if they are sick or not feeling well. VISITING YOUR CHILD AT CAMP - Regardless of the relationship to a child, parents, guardians, siblings, family, friends etc. are not permitted to enter any of our camp rooms or space occupied by campers. Camp staff will bring children to the parent or guardian upon request. All visitors must first go to the Camp Office located in the RA's West Wing where they will be reunited. MEDICATIONS - We ask that you talk to the Camp Supervisor when you drop off your child regarding your child’s medication. Required medication must be placed in a Ziploc bag and clearly labeled with both the child’s name, dosage, and any specific storage information. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – Your child’s safety is our number one priority. Our daily activities are designed with safety in mind however we do know that “minor accidents can happen”. As such, counsellors carry fanny pack first aid kits allowing them to deal with the small bumps and bruises on the spot. Senior camp staff and counsellors are certified in first aid and CPR. In the unlikely event of a serious injury, you will be contacted immediately at the contact information that we have on file. BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATION – RA Camps have behaviour guidelines that are grounded in the RA’s Code of Ethics. Staff will use approaches that are positive, supportive, consistent, proactive and based on logical consequences. Disruptive behaviour will be handled in a fair and consistent manner using progressive behaviour management strategies. These rules are reviewed with the campers each day before the start of camp. Disrespectful behaviour, foul or hurtful language and violence will not be tolerated. The Association reserves the right to withdraw your child from camp should their behaviour jeopardize safety of themselves, other campers, staff, or property. SUN & WATER SMART - Many of our camp programs include swimming in the RA’s outdoor pools. Swimming is not only fun but builds important skills, so we wish for campers to participate in this activity. Although the pool is supervised by trained and qualified lifeguards, all campers must adhere to lifejacket requirements and the pool swim test assessment with respect to access to the various sections of the pool (deep water vs shallow). Campers ages 4 to 7 must wear lifejackets at all times regardless of individual swimming abilities. Campers ages 8 and older will participate in a weekly swim assessment (each and every week) to determine if they can enter the deep end and are exempted from wearing a lifejacket. The RA has a supply of personal flotation devices available for use by any camper at any time. If you have concerns about your child’s swimming abilities, please talk to the counsellor upon drop off. Hats, shirts, sunscreen are required for campers to protect themselves from the effects of the sun. We also encourage those campers registered in the aquatics camps to wear a protective sun/swim shirt. Camp staff will assist our younger campers to apply sunscreen. Please ensure to send a water bottle with your child. Your child will be encouraged to drink a full bottle of water at least twice per day. |
FRIEND REQUESTS - Should you wish to request that your child be grouped with their friend(s) registered in the same camp program, please contact the camp supervisor at camps@racentre.com no later than the Thursday prior to the first day of camp.
PRIVACY POLICY - Your privacy is important to the RA. We are dedicated to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all your personal information. We ask for personal information to be able to serve you better. The RA’s Privacy Policy complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act of Canada. Further information is available by viewing our policy online at www.racentre.com. LUNCH & SNACKS -Here are some helpful suggestions regarding food while at camp.
Inclusion & Accessibility
The RA strives to offer programs which are welcoming to all participants. We are strongly committed to working with families to support and accommodate diverse needs and abilities to ensure each child is able to integrate into the program, feel included, supported and ultimately to have an unforgettable time! We ask that parents connect with us before registering if your child may require additional support so we can explore together how we can accommodate them to the best of our ability with the available resources we have in place.
