Fencing Camps

 

Fencing Fundamentals  |  Fencing Camp - Level 2  |  High Performance Camp

 

The RA Fencing Camps operate under the Canadian Fencing Federation’s Armband Program and are run under the direction of the RA Fencing Club’s head instructor Paul ApSimon. Paul, a certified coach (National Coaches Institute), is currently the coach for the Canadian National Foil Team.  Both the Fencing FUNdamental Camp is delivered by experienced and qualified instructors.

 

Fencing Fundamentals

7 to 13 years old

Learn how to fence! No fencing experience required. This camp is for those wishing to learn the basics of fencing. Camp activi-ties include fencing lessons, fencing games, sparring, footwork, outdoor activities, swimming and an end of week tournament. Try your hand at this Olympic sport.

 

Camp Hours: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Fencing Developmental Camp

7 to 13 years old

The RA Fencing Summer Camp has reserved a session for campers wanting to continue learning where the Fencing FUNdamentals Camp left off.


The objective for Developmental Camp is to build on the skills acquired from the basic camp program.  The focus will be on the principles of offence and defence, introduction of fencing tactics, fencing rules and etiquette, refereeing and competition experience. By the end of the second week campers will have met all of the criteria required to test for their Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) yellow armband.

 

Camp Hours: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Fencing High Performance Camp | all ages

The RA Fencing Club and Ottawa Fencing will be hosting our 13th Annual High Performance Camp.  The camp will be held at the RA Centre in Ottawa.

 

Camp Hours: 10:00-5:00 (Optional evening sessions on Monday and Thursday 7:30-10:30)

Accommodation: Out of town fencers are asked to contact Paul ApSimon (apsimon.paul@gmail.com) ASAP to help coordinate billeting.

Under the direction of Coaches Paul ApSimon and Parviz Haghandish, competitive level fencers are invited to participate in this year ’s High Performance Fencing Camp. Fencers of all ages are welcome. If your son/daughter is interested in competitive fencing this is a great opportunity to train with Canada’s Best. Camp activities include fencing lessons, bouting, fitness training, annual goal setting, mental performance activities, nutritional strategies, team building activities, and a mini tournament. The goal of this camp is to introduce and set the foundation to enhance training strategies and discipline that leads towards Ottawa Fencing’s competitive culture of excellence. Participants in the camp will include National and Provincial champions, and elite fencers in the Canadian High Performance program.

 

Camp hours: 10:00am - 5:00pm
(Optional evening sessions on Monday and Thursday 7:30pm-10:30pm)
