Head Counsellors

Sarah Hobson

Sarah is extremely excited for yet another amazing summer as a Head Counsellor at RA Summer Camps. This will be Sarah’s fifth summer with us. When she is not working with RA Summer Camps Sarah attends Carleton University studying Psychology and outside of classes she can be found playing outdoors - at the crack of dawn, rain or shine-especially if it means paddle boarding! Sarah says she can't wait to meet all the new and returning campers and is especially looking forward to Wet and Wild week and playing shark and sea turtle in the pool.

Evan MacDonald

Evan is very excited to be returning for his second summer at RA Summer Camps with a new role of  Head Counselor with Sports and Specialty Camps. He is a recent graduate of Saint Mary's University in Halifax, where he studied Criminology and Psychology and played on the men's rugby team. Evan was born and raised in Nova Scotia and is a proud East coaster! He has worked and coached youth for a number of years in sports and more recently expanded his experience to include helping youth in the mental health field.

Melanie Turabian

Melanie, or better known as ‘Mel’ to all the campers and staff, is looking forward to returning to the RA Camps for another exciting summer! Mel currently attends Carleton University, and is studying Cognitive Science with a Concentration in Neuroscience working towards a double major in Psychology and an additional Minor in Neuroscience. When she is not busy studying all about the brain, Mel enjoys sports, especially soccer and running. Mel is returning for her fifth summer and will be working with our day campers.

Cody Corbin

Cody grew up in Renfrew, just an hour west of Ottawa. He is currently studying at Carleton University pursuing a Bachelor degree in the Social Work Program. Cody has always had a passion for sports; actively participating in fastball, hockey and football for a number of years. Camp has come to resonate with Cody and he credits his experiences as very important stepping stones in the development of his character. He believes that camp provides campers and counsellors alike an opportunity for immense personal growth, in a short period of time. This summer he is looking forward to seeing all the new and returning faces.  As a side note... he is also really looking forward to winning the annual RA Pool Party competitions again!
