Ian Bishop

Ian Bishop spent 35 years in Federal Government Service in a variety of work experiences. The last 15 years of Ian’s work time was spent building a team of professionals that managed, among other items, development and management of all architectural detail for all Federal Government Properties in the National Capital Region and the design and layouts for most International Conferences in Canada such as the G8 and G20.

 

As a volunteer Ian has spent 16 years on supporting he RA through Executive Committees and served on the Board of Directors by representing members’ needs to help develop the RA and RA Centre as one of the leading Sports Centres in Canada. As a member of the Canadian Badminton Community Ian has been President of Badminton Ontario and a Director and then Vice President of Badminton Canada.  

 

In recognition of his dedication and work in the areas of Amateur Sport and the United Way Ian has been the recipient of a National Achievement Award, an Ontario Special Achievement Award and has been named ACT Sportsman of the Year.

 

As an amateur athlete Ian has won numerous age group National and International Championships and is a member of the RA Sports Hall of Fame.

 

Ian is a determined, dedicated volunteer who enjoys making a difference and looks forward to working hard to help enhance all members’ experiences at the RA Centre.
