Prior to moving back to Ottawa, her hometown, in February 2013, to be closer to her growing family, Glenn Martin, CAE, most recently served as the CEO for the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of British Columbia for 7.5 years and concurrently served on the Executive of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) BC.
Before joining ACECBC, Glenn served as Manager Member & public Affairs for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, the regulatory body for more than 25,000 members. She held a political position to a senior federal cabinet minister started her own business in international trade, worked as a consultant for several clients in marketing and communications, and volunteered on the St. Patrick’s School Board of Directors.
She received her Bachelor of Commerce degree in International Business from the University of Victoria when her two sons were nine and thirteen years of age. As part of this program, Glenn studied Japanese and travelled to South East Asia to gain international cultural and business experiences. These travels included six weeks in Kuala Lumpur; Malaysia working for ScotiaBank on a retail marketing development project.
To improve her knowledge of association management, Glenn enrolled in a Masters level of education to gain the CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation.
Having built a successful career in the not-for-profit sector in BC, and now back in Ottawa, Glenn has re-entrenched herself in the Ottawa community. She is a member of the old Ottawa South Community Association on the strategic Planning Committee; the CSAE Ottawa-Gatineau chapter, on the education committee; the Government Relations Institute of Canada and women in Government Relations.
Glenn has been married to her husband Chris for nearly 40 years. They reside in Britannia Beach, in a funky completely renovated 100-year old cottage.
